The Difference Between FUE & FUT

In recent years there is a significant growth in the number of men and women seeking cosmetic surgery for hair transplants to tackle hair loss concerns. As a condition that affects nearly 55% of women and over 45% of men below the age of 35 to 40 and as many as 60% for men over 60, it’s not surprising that people are in search of a solution such as hair transplantation.
Hence, there are two different types of hair transplants currently available to patients, Follicular Unit Transplant which is known as (FUT) and Follicular Unit Excision which is (FUE). In 2014, FUT accounted for over half of all hair transplants, but in mid-2012 and 2014, FUE saw a 50% growth too.
But knowing the differences between two, will help you find the most appropriate solution to solve your hair loss condition. Hair transplant in Mumbai

Follicular Unit Transplant or FUT

This type of hair transplant is the more traditional and popular. Also known as strip method, FUT involves taking linear strips or groups of hair follicles from the back side of the scalp or areas with an abundance of hair. These strips are then carefully placed into round incisions in the scalp areas affected by hair loss to replace natural hair growth. Hair transplant in Bangalore

In contrast to FUT, the FUE procedure involves harvesting individual follicles from areas where there is more hair, then gently inserting the individual follicles into the scalp where hair loss has occurred. This is relatively new and revolutionary hair transplanting procedure that is growing in popularity, as it has a similar success rate, but doesn’t involve removing strips of hair follicles. FUT and FUE – The Benefits

While both procedures have high success rates as a hair loss solution, there are different benefits and drawbacks to the procedures, which may sway your decision on which one to choose.
One of the considerations for any type of hair transplanting procedures should be the level of scarring. With this two type of cosmetic surgery, it is inevitable that there will be some element of scarring to contend with. However FUE have less tissue scarring than FUT. This is down to the fact that with FUT, linear strips of hair follicles are removed from the back of the scalp and then placed in circular incisions at the front. These strips will leave small linear scars that can be visible if you wear your hair short, whereas FUE will generally leave less visible scarring as no incisions are made, just small round punches where the hair follicle is extracted and replaced in the affected areas. Also, due to the less invasive procedure of FUE, many patients will experience a slightly quicker recovery time and less scalp numbness because there isn’t as the scalp tissue is less traumatised. However, with both procedures the down time is relatively low and you should begin to see normal hair growth within 3-6 months, which is a very short time in comparison to a lifetime of baldness.
